A quiet, private charter to say goodbye on the water. Captain Rene takes your family offshore to scatter your loved one's ashes in the calm blue water of the Florida Keys — gently and unhurried, with time for words, music, and flowers. He handles the permitting and the details so you can simply be present.
USCG-Certified 50-Ton Captain · 30+ Years Experience
Where We Go
We launch from Venetian Shores at MM 86 and head out to calm, open water. Federal rules require ash scattering to take place at least 3 nautical miles offshore, and Captain Rene knows the quiet, sheltered stretches of the Keys where the water is settled and the horizon is wide — the right place for a final goodbye.
If your loved one had a favorite spot — a reef they dove, a channel they fished, the bay where they watched the sun set — tell the captain when you call. Whenever the weather and the regulations allow, he'll do his best to take you there.

Memorial Service FAQs
How far offshore do we go?
At least 3 nautical miles, as federal (EPA) regulations require for scattering ashes at sea. Captain Rene is fully familiar with the rules and chooses a calm, sheltered spot beyond that line.
What can go into the water?
Ashes and fresh flowers or petals only. The EPA does not allow plastic or other non-biodegradable items in the water. If you'd like to release an urn, it must be one made to dissolve — the captain can advise on where to find one.
How many people can come?
Up to 6 guests, the same as our other charters. It stays a small, private gathering — just your family and close friends.
Can we say a few words or play music?
Of course. This is your ceremony. Read, speak, play a song over the boat's Bluetooth speaker, or simply sit in the quiet. Captain Rene holds the boat steady and gives you all the time you need.
Do you provide the urn?
No — please bring a water-soluble or biodegradable urn. We're glad to point you toward a supplier when you call.
What if the weather turns?
Safety and dignity come first. If conditions aren't right on your date, we'll reschedule for the next good day or refund your deposit — no pressure, no rush.
Reserve a Date
When you're ready, reserve a date online — a $150 deposit holds the boat. Captain Rene then calls to talk through the day at your pace: your timing, your wishes, and the details he'll handle for you. If you'd rather speak with him first, he's always glad to take your call.
